Job Summary
A psychologist in University Counseling Services at UWM directs clinical services to students and engages in the full range of psychological services including assessment (psycho-diagnostic and psychological assessment services), evaluation, consultation and/or psychotherapy to promote the mental health and well-being of students. This position provides professional mental health counseling and consultation services for the campus community, incorporates a brief therapeutic model to address the emotional and behavioral needs of students, creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus, and provides strategic direction and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives.
Job Responsibilities • Performs patient psycho-diagnostic, psychological assessments and evaluations • Identifies patient psychological disorders and emotional patterns to understand and predict behavior • Assesses safety risks and develops safety plans for at-risk individuals • Develops, implements, and monitors individual and group psychological treatment programs with clinical staff and physicians • Completes clinical treatment reports in accordance with department and agency guidelines • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students • Provides brief individual, group and crisis counseling services to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues • Provides campus presentations, educational activities and outreach programming as needed • Provides consultation for referral services to faculty and staff
