About The Role

Our friendly Student Support team is part of Falmouth Exeter Plus which supports a diverse community of staff and over 7,000 students of Falmouth University and the University of Exeter in Cornwall. We have a key opportunity to join us in our mission to provide outstanding welfare and wellbeing support which enables students to learn and progress successfully at university.

Student Support is a uniquely dynamic and stimulating, multi-disciplinary team. We work collaboratively to respond positively to behaviour and welfare issues amongst students, connecting across the University partnership and with external agencies. We offer a range of assessment-based interventions, including advice and guidance on student life issues, mental health and psychological support, individual action plans, online resources and referral/ liaison – always keeping the whole student community at the heart of what we do.

We are now looking to recruit a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Student Support team. This role will primarily provide support for students across our shared campus's (Penryn, Falmouth and Truro) by providing advice, guidance, support and responding to a wide range of student life and welfare issues. The PWP will work within a multi- disciplinary team who aim to provide a holistic approach to support plans for students. They will be a key point of triage and deliver low intensity evidence-based interventions whilst, working proactively collaborating with colleagues across campuses, as well as external agencies.

About You

The successful candidate will have a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Therapies Practice (LI–CBT or LI-CBT for Children, Young People and Families). You will have experience of delivering PWP interventions and be a professional who can work independently, who is approachable, pragmatic and who can demonstrate an understanding of vulnerability, confidentiality and managing risk. Personal resilience and the ability to remain calm in response to challenging situations are both vital. Flexibility and a willingness to support the development of this important post will be key.

We are looking for candidates who have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of delivering low intensity evidence-based interventions for clients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety.
  • Experience of working effectively with a range of mental health issues in a professional context.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Capacity to build strong professional relationships within a diverse university community, multidisciplinary team and with external organisations.
  • Experience of and commitment to working collaboratively and positively in a team.
