Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Institute (AMMPI), is a research institute within the Division of Research and Innovation which is focused to test, develop and process next generation structural materials via rapid combinatorial assessment and advanced processing technologies.
Position Overview
The Institute Proposal Manager will provide critical services to faculty within the institute as they develop and conduct externally funded research projects. The position supports the director in developing tracking mechanisms, strategic goals and development services, and priorities that align with the institute and division (Research and Innovation) research. This position supports faculty in proposal submission and re-submission, including working with faculty to assemble and assist in developing sections of the proposal, coordinating between team members and the central Office of Grants and Contracts Administration (OGCA) so that the proposal is submitted on schedule via internal and external portals. The Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Institute (AMMPI) Proposal Manager will work with other proposal managers within the Research and Innovation Division to become successful in acquisition of large collaborative and externally funded research projects and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of progressively responsible professional-level related experience in proposal submission activities in pursuit of private, local, state, or federal grants or contracts, which includes demonstrated crafting of proposals in response to competitive solicitations that were awarded funding from federal government agencies; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques to communicate with various constituents (e.g., faculty, staff, community partners) with diverse backgrounds and experiences. • Strong proposal writing experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills writing original content and editing. • Demonstrated ability to identify key components of an RFP and use them to develop the tools needed to ensure compliance for each proposal effort. • Demonstrated ability to maintain clear, consistent, timely, and effective communication with proposal stakeholders. • Proven track record in management of small to large, complex proposal efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in institutes of higher education with sponsored grant proposal development is desirable.

Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, some evenings and weekends as needed

Job Duties
o
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UNT policies and procedures as well as sponsor, state, and federal regulations governing submissions of proposals for external funding. Maintain NORDP membership and professional development for Research Development Professionals to engage in best practices, and offer the most effective proposal development services to faculty.

Assist Principal Investigators (PI) in grant management and timely submission, including scheduling kickoff and planning meetings, providing checklists, serve as coordinator between team members, point person for internal and external portals. Serve as liaison to Grants and Contracts Administration as required.

Assist PIs in quality proposal submissions. Connect faculty to on-campus resources and data, liaise between offices on campus, create and provide relevant templates. Coordinate and provide resources to support visual graphics and illustrations on proposals.
o
Develop and maintain metrics and strategies on proposals for the assigned areas. Prospect funding opportunities, understanding and communicating the funding landscape, and partner with University leadership to increase & prioritize specific external funding.
o
Connect faculty to on-campus resources and data, including education, training, workshops, and champion new faculty investigators. Liaise between offices on campus, create a repository of resources for assigned area.
