Position Overview
Position Summary
This position will function as LEAD PROJECT MANAGER. This position performs administrative and technical work in conducting short and long range facility space and master planning, work flow analysis, space and facility usage, project management, AUTO CAD duties, MS Word, Excel, NC Building Codes, and ADA regulations.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) is responsible for administering the planning, design and construction of most university projects completed by contractors. FDC is also responsible for the implementation of the Univeristy's Physical Master Plan. FDC is responsible for providing guidelines and direction for all architectural (exterior and interior) issues involving University facilities.

Bachelor's degree in institutional planning, public administration, engineering, architecture, business administration, economics, industrial technology or a related discipline and two years of facility and space planning experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Note: This is a generalized representation of positions in this class and is not intended to identify essential work functions per ADA. Examples of competencies are primarily those of the majority of positions in this class, but may not be applicable to all positions.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; Project Management Architectural or Construction/Engineering or a related discipline and five to ten (5-10) years of project management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Project management experience should be inclusive of budget monitoring, reviewing plans to ensure ADA compliance, preparing/reviewing project scopes, visiting site, collaborating with end users, reviewing/approving invoices for proper compensation, keeping project on schedule, communicating with designers, contractors, scheduling and leading meetings when necessary, etc.

JOURNEY COMPETENCY LEVEL
Project Consultation and Management Ability to function as a project manager to review, and evaluate the work of consultants. Ability to monitor, inspect, and maintain quality control for renovation and new construction. Ability to use databases to collect, store, and monitor status of projects. -Survey departments for their space and facility needs, develop programming to meet the needs of a project through discussions with users, develop rough cost estimates, and assist with clarifying differences of opinion for the Assistant AV to provide any required conflict resolution among departments involved in space planning. - Assist with establishing, maintaining, updating, and managing the master campus space data base. Update building/campus drawings as appropriate. -Participate in some review of project design plans and meeting programming needs. This includes working with users in initial design programming through final acceptance, reviewing plans for functionality. -Management of University Projects: The project manager will manage multiple projects. The responsibilities include the management of all phases of a project from its inception through construction contract award, to completion and closeout. - Program: The incumbent will assist with managing the process of defining building programs, including requirements for space, equipment and infrastructure. Secure authority from UNC-GA and the Advisory Committee on some projects. -Financial Control: The project manager will provide input into the initial project budgeting process and manage or track the formal budget approval process, project spending during planning, and payments for miscellaneous expenditures and designer fees. Responsible for budget control. -Schedule Control: Establish schedules for project completion and monitor the status of assigned projects. The project manager will expedite project processes as needed. -Designer Selection: Will manage the designer selection process including advertising, short listing and interviews. Coordination for design contract. -Provide Building Committee the necessary support to assure that needs are met by the completed project. -Coordination of Project Reviews: The project manager will manage the collection and reconciliation of university review at schematic design, design development and construction development phases. Project Liaison: The project manager is the primary point of contract between designer and university departments -Assist in obtaining all City and State approvals. -Provide support in the process of awarding construction contracts -Responsible for construction management, post construction review, designer, contractor evaluations, and warranty management -Assist with team leadership of other Project Management positions
