This is a full-time, temporary, benefits eligible, grant funded position expected to end on or before 8/31/2024. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding.

Bachelor's degree in special education. Master's degree preferred. Eight years with progressive responsible strategic planning, administration, supervision, project management in education.. Specific professional licensing or certification in special education or a related field desirable with expertise in Transition Services, as well as campus and district level experience is preferred. Preference will be given to experience at a Regional Education Service Center or the Texas Education Agency. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Directs and coordinates activities of the grant activities and project partners to ensure project progress and completion are on schedule and within the prescribed budget. Oversees the administration of the grant projects and supervision of the assigned team members and consultants.

Primary Responsibilities

Directs the day-to-day project activities of designated projects, staff and consultants. Provides input on designated project budgets and schedules and reports progress to the Executive Director of the Garrett Center. Executes education contracts and maintains project performance with regard to project budget, schedule, quality control, and assurance. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframes and funding parameters. Reviews project proposals and plans to determine timeframes, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources. Establishes work plans and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment and assignment of project personnel. Confers with project team to outline work plans, duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others. Confers with project partners to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies. Oversees the work of outside consultants, stops work if necessary, and recommends corrective actions to the Executive Director. Makes recommendations regarding staff and consultant performance. Represents the University at meetings with governmental agencies and regulatory authorities. Coordinates submittal reviews. Attends preliminary meetings and conferences with approving agencies. Prepares education grant specifications, cost estimates and grant-related documents. Provides leadership for team members and assists with development of professional and technical advancement. Performs difficult design analysis and tasks. Assists other grant staff in accomplishment of their projects. Develops and maintains grant-related records. Assists the Executive Director in preparation of grant- related documents, budget control, and in-house training of team members. Assures quality control of designated projects, reviews fidelity checklist with the assigned project staff, and monitors grant efforts. Reviews daily reports from the project staff and prepares weekly reports of grant activities. Participates in technical and professional societies and civic organizations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must have demonstrated ability in the planning, management, coordination, and implementation of projects designed to meet local, state, and agency requirements. Acts as a role model. Must have skills in oral and written communications, workload management, planning, and supervision of professional and technical personnel, leadership and interpersonal relations. Demonstrates excellent planning and organizational skills. Computer literacy on PC, using MS Office, AutoCAD, and Project Management Software, eBuilder.

This is a full-time, temporary, benefits eligible, grant funded position expected to end on or before 8/31/2024. Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued funding. Up to 100% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
