    Reports To: Dean of Workforce & Economic Development

    The Workforce & Economic Development's mission is to strengthen our community by linking education and employment to create a skilled 21st-century workforce. Join this great team! The Workforce & Economic Development (WFED) department of Olympic College is seeking a Program Specialist 2 who will perform work to effectively support new and existing professional- technical programs and WFED grant performance goals and outcomes. The Program Specialist performs specialized tasks regarding the interpretation and implementation of professional-technical program policies, procedures, and regulations. This position reports to the WFED Dean and provides administrative and professional-technical program support for the Dean, as well as the department. The Program Specialist will exercise independent judgment when problem-solving and deciding to elevate issues to the Dean and works with limited general supervision.

    Essential Functions

  • Initiate and monitor key activities concerning professional-technical programs and grant goals; respond to inquiries; resolve problems within area of authority to ensure professional-technical programs, policies, and activities meet required benchmarks.
  • Prepare narrative and/or statistical reports regarding program operations.
  • Attend outreach events and meetings to promote professional-technical programs, WFED, and/or Olympic College.
  • Attend meetings and/or conferences as a department representative. Attend conferences, meetings, and public events at the state and local level as the program liaison, when directed. Work cooperatively with college divisions, faculty, staff, and administration to deliver and/or support WFED programs. Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographical, and socio- economic backgrounds.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to identify, compile, and distribute information relative to grant activities; confer with other campus departments, faculty, and outside agencies as the program representative.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate knowledge of higher education issues and mandates.
  • Demonstrate intermediate use of technology including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, MS Teams), Zoom, etc.
  • Demonstrate successful planning and organizational skills.
  • Be flexible and adaptable and be able to develop a responsive, effective, and reasonable course of action.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, closing the equity gap, inclusion, belonging, diversity, and learning-centered climate.
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

    Terms of Employment

    This is a full-time position classified position scheduled to work 40 hours per week. The starting salary is $40,812 with periodic increases and earning potential to $54,492 annually. Olympic College provides an excellent benefits package which includes vacation, holiday & sick leave, medical/dental/vision/life insurance. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is represented by the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA).

    Most candidates will be hired at the beginning of the assigned salary range and advance after 6-months of continuous employment and every year following, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
