Program Mgr I

The University of Alabama at Birmingham

This position is responsible for administratively managing a University department under the general direction of a functional Program Director or under the auspices of a Program Advising Committee and according to an established program plan. May participate in the development of program objectives and is responsible for achieving objectives within defined parameters set by University and/or department policies and procedures or technical principles. May require fiscal management of grants and other funds. May manage multiple programs. Requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan. May supervise staff as needed

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead academic advisor for students; is the designated person for online program advising needs, engagement, and outreach
  • coordinates student communication
  • coordinates student engagement and events
  • coordinates Blazer Beginnings, New Student Orientations with the Office of New Student Programs
  • coordinates the SOPH role in UAB Family Weekend and other university sponsored events
  • coordinates with the Campus Visit Center for interest sessions
  • coordinates Peer Mentors
  • serves as a liaison to connect students with appropriate offices across campus which include but not limited to the Registrar's Office, One Stop Student Services, VMASC, DSS, New Student Programs, Student Counseling and Wellness, UAB Career Center, Student Life and Leadership, Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Graduate School
  • Salary Range : $41,175 - $66,915

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • And two (2) years of related experience required
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
