  • Evidence of ability to assess student learning outcomes and/or other measures of successful academic program delivery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree
  • 3 or more years teaching academic success courses for first-year college students as instructor of record
  • Experience working with faculty
  • Experience with faculty professional development
  • Experience in course or academic program development
  • Knowledge of best practices in first-year success courses and first-year programming
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas).
  • Experience managing a budget
  • Job Description

    Reporting to the University College Asst VP, Academic Success, the Program Director directs the daily operations of the University Seminar Program. In collaboration with other stakeholders, the Program Director also develops and maintains innovative teaching materials, resources, and faculty development programs to support the University Seminar Program as well as within the larger context of the first-year experience model.

    Job Duties

  • Coordinates the daily, ongoing operations of the University Seminar program.
  • Coordinates with First-Year Advising and other first-year services and supports across campus.
  • Supervises and supports US 1100 faculty.
  • Maintains or creates syllabus templates, lesson plans, and other teaching resources for faculty.
  • Recruits or assists in recruiting faculty to teach US 1100.
  • Assesses US 1100 course outcomes.
  • Develops, conducts, and assesses ongoing comprehensive professional development for faculty teaching US 1100.
  • Interfaces with instructional technologies to provide effective learning management system tools for US 1100 faculty, including US 1100 Canvas course templates.
  • Coordinates and attends regular meetings of the US 1100 Faculty Mentoring Group.
  • Working with the Assistant Vice President and the US 1100 Faculty Mentoring Group, facilitates curriculum development.
  • Serves as a resource for students and faculty.
  • Represents University Seminar to internal and external constituencies.
