Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Program Lead and Assistant Professor of Practice is a faculty position
responsible for teaching, program coordination, and management for the
Diabetes Management Certificate programs within Benerd College and works
closely with other program staff. This position reports directly to the Dean.
Benerd College offers continuing education and professional development
opportunities such as certificates, online courses, and degree completion for
non-traditional students and working professionals. The College currently
seeks a leader with a creative and entrepreneurial spirit to serve a vital
role as we fulfill our vision to continue to offer programs to support public
health initiatives. This entails educating, empowering, and preparing a
pipeline of healthcare professionals for the local workforce who are
specifically trained in diabetes management and education. The Diabetes
Certificate programs focus on innovative learning design, learning
environments, and learning experiences in clinical and non-clinical settings.
We hope to find a colleague who will help us move even further in stewarding
the most transformational and impactful program possible and to educate a
pipeline of health professionals specializing in diabetes in the Stockton
This is a grant-funded position with a one-year appointment, with the
possibility of further employment after the one-year assignment pending grant
The successful candidate will have demonstrated subject matter expertise in
diabetes education and will show evidence of or potential for research,
leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues,
This position will play a key role in sustaining the Diabetes Management
Serving as Lead Faculty for Non-Clinical and Clinical Diabetes cohorts
throughout the year, teaching both programs in an online setting. •
Ensuring curriculum for the Clinical and Non-clinical Diabetes
Certificates are current and relevant.
Assisting in the identification of scholarship requisites and selecting
scholarship recipients from public health and non-profit organizations
that are at the forefront of responding to this health challenge
Serving as a contact for prospective and current students in the program
Engaging with prospective students where applicable.
Ongoing assessment of program needs and course performance, utilizing
course evaluations and student feedback to provide updates to course
content if needed.
Staying abreast of marketing campaigns and collaborating with programming
and marketing teams to increase program exposure.
Maintaining records of essential program information including
spreadsheets, budgets, and logs of previous programs and year's
Serving as primary contact for Continuing Medical Education (CME)
partnership and other relevant industry organizations where subject matter
expertise is required (University of California San Francisco (UCSF),
National Association of Social Workers (NASW)).
Assisting with the collection of course data for various unit publications
as well as granting funding requirements.
Working as liaison to academic units and other stakeholders regarding
course additions, cancellations, revisions, etc. to serve overall student
Monitoring and answering programming inquiries.
Performing miscellaneous other duties and special projects as assigned.
Three to five years of experience in program development, management,
coordination, and recruitment.
Master's or advanced degree in a healthcare discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
Demonstrated Expertise in Diabetes Education.
