An exciting opportunity for an experienced Program Coordinator to join our dynamic and active team.

• From $76,917 to $87,443 (HEW 5) p.a. plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading • Appointment Type: Full-time, Fixed Term Contract until 31 December 23 with potential for this position to be on-going. • Location: Based at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde

THE ROLE

As the Widening Participation Program Coordinator, you be responsible for implementing initiatives which target increased access, participation and success in Higher Education for potential domestic undergraduate students from Low SES backgrounds, regional and remote areas and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

More specifically the role entails:

Implementation of widening participation pre-access, access and participation programs and projects both on and off Macquarie University Wallumattagal Campus with a focus on students from low SES backgrounds, students in regional and remote areas and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Building and sustaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including schools, communities, MQ faculties, departments, and professional units.

Managing a team of passionate and dedicated staff for the delivery of widening participation programs and initiatives.

ABOUT US

The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Programs and Pathways) within the DVC-A portfolio develops and drives the University's strategy for building and enhancing entry and progression pathways and, with the Pro-Vice Chancellor Learning and Teaching, leads the ongoing improvement of academic offerings at Macquarie. The Widening Participation Unit (WPU) within that portfolio works to meet the University's commitment to the national widening participation agenda with the aim to improve access and increase participation in Higher Education by students from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented (low socio-economic status, regional and remote, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander). The WPU is funded by the Federal Government's Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directed by the Senior Program Coordinator you will;

Implement WPU pre-access, access and participation programs and initiatives both on and off Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde) with a focus on students from equity cohorts.

Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver WPU programs and initiatives and promote the University's Widening Participation priorities.

Direct a team of Program Assistants and Student Ambassadors in daily tasks.

Support the evaluation, research and development of WPU programs and initiatives.

Foster a culture of collaboration, best practice, and continuous improvement by working effectively with the WPU team and other stakeholders.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

A relevant degree with demonstrated experience, or an equivalent combination of demonstrated experience in equity and widening participation and/or education/training.

Experience maintaining effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience in project management and ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple competing tasks and deadlines to achieve desired outcomes.

Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with and support students from diverse backgrounds.
