The Program Coordinator for the Center of Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering (CBTE) will work closely with Center Leadership to execute the Center's mission and will serve as the central organizer, administrator, and communication of all activities of the Center. This includes facilitating all communications with Center and student faculty, maintaining an active website and public-facing communications, and organizing events including the seminar series, annual distinguished lecture, student research presentation series, industry chalk talk speakers, soft skill workshop organization, and community social events. The Program Coordinator also solicits nominations for new trainees, facilitates the review and selection process, and encourages applications to our certificate program. This also includes tracking and reporting of progress of all students throughout the program and their degree progression, including preparing analyses and materials for annual NIH progress reports for the T32 grant and renewals.
This position will also offer Administrative support for Prof. Tatiana Segura to improve productivity and streamlining of processes. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, flexible, and dynamic self-starter. Job responsibilities will include traditional support roles, including updating social media, managing website content, and planning and meetings and travel. This includes facilitating communications (phone, email, social media), organize and schedule appointments and manage her calendar, attend meetings, take notes, and generate actionable tasks, write and distribute correspondence as directed including responses to emails sent through the seguralab website. Further this position will help facilitate the preparation and organization of reports for granting agencies and of maintaining a complete CV and other biosketch for distribution when needed. Additionally, this position will book travel, hotels, and other needed logistics as well as purchase refreshments for meetings as well as submit finantial
Candidates for this position should have enthusiasm for playing an active role in identifying needs in the exciting environment of the Center, as well as expanding their skillset to develop and provide new administrative and coordination functions.
Specific job responsibilities include:
Assist the Director, Executive Director, and Steering Committee in the development of and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives of the Center.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of regular and special programs such as a seminar series and annual symposia. These activities will include inviting appropriate speakers or other participants, coordinating schedules, event logistics and space, catering, publicity, and ensuring necessary financial arrangements are managed to a budget. Coordinate calendars and meetings for collaborative projects between the Director and Center members.
Develop and implement a communications plan, including website development and maintenance, print materials, and social media activities. Print materials will include brochures, bulletins and other publications to describe the program's academic goals and events such as symposia, seminar, and other special activities. Publish, develop and implement other communications vehicles such as newsletters to include compiling news and educational articles of local interests; write and edit text and coordinate printing and distribution.
Manage print and electronic advertising activities, which may include budgeting, planning, and working with external design firms or media vendors/buyers for marketing campaigns.
Coordinate and participate in the implementation of promotional ideas and activities in support of a comprehensive public relations program to publicize and promote the Center activities and programs for general and specialized audiences.
Maintain liaison with outside educational and professional organizations and agencies to explore implementation of specialized programs at Duke and to encourage participation in specified programs.
Correspond with interested students and other universities to provide information concerning activities, policies and procedures of the program.
Partner with the Executive Director to develop and implement assessment strategies to determine the quality and impact of programming.

Required Qualifications:
Education/Training: Work requires analytical, communications, and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program in physical sciences, social sciences, or management.
Experience: Requires minimum 1-3 years of experience in a relevant academic or industrial position that includes independent responsibilities for event coordination and/or communications.
Skills:
Skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems.
Skills evaluating program performance, summarizing findings, communicating results, and forming an action plan.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
Ability to learn new skills and software by attending workshops, viewing videos, or being directly trained by other personnel with the particular skill.
Minimum Qualifications EducationWork requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
ExperienceWork requires one year of experience in program administration OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
