The University of Alabama at Birmingham
The UAB Department of Neurology seeks a part-time Program Coordinator for the
American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Information Referral Center.
The Coordinator will provide administrative/logistical support to the program
and assist with planning community events, managing APDA marketing materials,
and creating/ordering educational materials for outreach programs. The
position will travel to annual meetings and symposia 6-8 times per year.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, coordinates administrative, personnel, and
logistical support for a defined department program (s), often of a
large and/or complex nature
Carries out established program objectives and directives
Follows established guidelines or protocols
Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments
May participate in program planning and in setting program objectives
May supervise support staff
May act as a communication liaison and special events planner
Interfaces with outside resources such as volunteers, alumni, patients,
other professionals in a defined field or with continuing education
students
May be responsible for adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal
duties
May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission
May handle data management
Collaborate with community providers, support group leaders, and
individuals to help provide assistance to the Parkinson's community in the
state of Alabama
Organize, promote, and assist in implementing Parkinson's programs,
meetings, and events
Assist in developing, ordering, distributing, and stocking educational
materials
Prepare for and attend symposium and annual support group meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary
Experience with program coordination, marketing, social media, and/or
education would be preferred
Hourly Range: $18.35-29.80
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field
And one (1) year of related experience required
Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
