Program Coord II

The University of Alabama at Birmingham

The UAB Department of Neurology seeks a part-time Program Coordinator for the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Information Referral Center. The Coordinator will provide administrative/logistical support to the program and assist with planning community events, managing APDA marketing materials, and creating/ordering educational materials for outreach programs. The position will travel to annual meetings and symposia 6-8 times per year.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision, coordinates administrative, personnel, and logistical support for a defined department program (s), often of a large and/or complex nature
  • Carries out established program objectives and directives
  • Follows established guidelines or protocols
  • Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments
  • May participate in program planning and in setting program objectives
  • May supervise support staff
  • May act as a communication liaison and special events planner
  • Interfaces with outside resources such as volunteers, alumni, patients, other professionals in a defined field or with continuing education students
  • May be responsible for adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal duties
  • May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission
  • May handle data management
  • Collaborate with community providers, support group leaders, and individuals to help provide assistance to the Parkinson's community in the state of Alabama
  • Organize, promote, and assist in implementing Parkinson's programs, meetings, and events
  • Assist in developing, ordering, distributing, and stocking educational materials
  • Prepare for and attend symposium and annual support group meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Experience with program coordination, marketing, social media, and/or education would be preferred
  • Hourly Range: $18.35-29.80

    Qualifications

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • And one (1) year of related experience required
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
