Part of the School of Psychology & Public Health at LaTrobe University, the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) was founded in 1993 and is a leading institution in Australia conducting social research into sexuality, gender, health and human relationships and the largest research centre in Australia investigating the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) communities. This includes a focus on young people, older people, and the intersection of sexuality and gender with other issues, such as disability, family violence and mental health.

    About the role

    The role will be responsible for upholding a high level of personal commitment, contribution and achievement at an internationally distinguished level in a discipline relevant to the key research themes of ARCSHS, including fostering excellence and advancement of the discipline by developing, leading and managing externally funded research projects, producing refereed publications arising from research and published in highly ranked journals, preparing research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and financially managing grants, and supervision of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) projects.

    About you

    You will have a PhD (or equivalent accreditation and standing), together with substantial research experience in a discipline relevant to the key research themes of ARCSHS, namely: sex, gender and consumption; LGBTIQ health and wellbeing; social responses to HIV and viral hepatitis; and sexual health and wellbeing. You will have:

  • An international recognition through original, innovative and distinguished contributions to your field of research
  • An outstanding record of publications, including papers in top-tier and high-impact journals
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and an exceptional record of attracting external research funding
  • Demonstrated high level leadership and management experience in leading research teams and projects, and financial management of grants for research projects
