The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) is one of the most

100 faculty and staff and nearly 3,500 students organized in four academic

Description of Work
Assist the Dean in the oversight of various duties, which may include but
aren't limited to, advancing research missions, supporting the undergraduate
and graduate degree programs, faculty evaluation, faculty development,
facilitate external support for undergraduate and graduate programs,
curriculum development, course schedule planning, faculty/staff hiring and
supervision, budget development, fiscal monitoring, and other related
administrative activities with and for the assigned program areas. Reports
directly to the Dean and may assume some duties of the Dean in his/her
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Dean is a key member of the Dean's senior administrative team.
S/He will assist the Dean in leading initiatives to significantly expand the
College's scholarly productivity and increase its research funding. The
selected candidate is expected to work closely with Department Chairs,
faculty, and students on matters related to research. S/He will foster a
supportive environment that encourages grantsmanship and facilitates post-
award execution, provide professional development and mentorship opportunities
in research for junior faculty and students, foster research integration
within the College, identify potential research funding sources, and leverage
research expertise within the College to pursue large funding opportunities,
manage and grow the College research infrastructure and capacity, and work
closely with all departments and university partners to provide leadership to
support the growth of research in the College.
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal
degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Experience developing large scale university-industry-government research
consortia focused on national priorities.
Have a distinguished record of funded research and publications in a computing
field and ability to lead faculty and manage administrative teams.
A record of teaching and mentoring students as well as a strong commitment to
diversity in science is required.
