  • Organisation/Company: Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw
  • Research Field: Physics › Solid state physics
  • Researcher Profile: Established Researcher (R3)
  • Application Deadline: 23/08/2021 16:00 - Europe/Brussels
  • Location: Poland › 02-668 Warsaw
  • Type Of Contract: Temporary
  • Job Status: Part-time
  • Hours Per Week: 20
  • Offer Starting Date: 01/09/2021
  • Reference Number: Job ID: #JOB32/2021
  • Job Summary:

Experimental studies of the structure and dynamics of crystal lattice of solids, in particular semiconductors. Successful applicant will study physical properties of various materials in a broad temperature range, applying both laboratory facilities (Raman scattering spectroscopy, Fourier infrared spectroscopy FTIR) and large research infrastructure European facilities for synchrotron radiation and neutron sources.

    Job Description:

After employment the applicant will study various semiconductor compounds, alloys and layered heterostructures relevant for optoelectronics and application in the fields of thermoelectricity or spintronics, with the particular emphasis on topological crystalline insulators. Materials for this research program will be provided by IP PAS technological laboratories or our partners. The key experiments will concern optical properties of semiconductors (Raman scattering, reflectivity, transmission in the infrared) carried out in laboratory environment as well as the studies at large facilities for diffraction and scattering of synchrotron radiation and neutrons.

Successful applicant is expected to have many-year experience (as certified by his/her relevant, significant publication record) with various optical and diffraction experimental techniques applied in solid state physics. Particularly important is practical experience in carrying out measurements at large research facilities and interpreting dynamic lattice properties based on diffraction and scattering of neutrons as well diffraction of synchrotron radiation in X-ray spectral range.
