The Department invites applications for professoriate posts in the following fields:
i. Applied Economics, including but not limited to digital economy, big data, machine learning, applied micro, trade, and development
ii. Macroeconomics.
Outstanding candidates in other fields are also welcome to apply.
Applicants should have a relevant PhD degree (for Assistant Professorship : acceptable if completed by the time of reporting for duty). For Professorship/ Associate Professorship, applicants should have established a record of publications in major economics journals.
The appointee(s) will (a) pursue academic research and publications; (b) apply for external research grants; (c) teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses according to his/her area of expertise; (d) supervise postgraduate students on their research; and (e) assist in administrative work in the Department.
Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2024, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Outstanding candidates for full Professor rank may be specially considered for substantive appointment forthwith.
