Duties

  • We invite applications from accomplished university educators seeking to join a collegial department where teaching innovation and student success are highly valued. We seek applicants who share our passion for high- quality undergraduate education and can skillfully infuse their teaching with their scholarly work.
  • The teaching responsibilities of the successful candidate will include courses in Comparative Politics and Public Policy. The successful candidate must contribute to the governance, events, and service activity of the department.
  • Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service.
  • Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

    Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Political Science, or a closely related field, at the time of appointment, from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • A record of teaching excellence in Political Science, preferably in the subfields of Comparative Politics and/or Public Policy.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • An established record of scholarly research.
  • A record in delivering experiential learning for undergraduates.
  • Experience teaching in an online environment using a common learning management system, such as Desire2Learn, Blackboard, or Moodle.
  • A demonstrated ability to teach courses in at least two (2) of the following areas in addition to introductory Comparative Politics and Public Policy courses: Indigenous politics, governance, and public policy; race and ethnicity politics; politics of climate change; health policy; democratization and its challenges; methods; and refugee policies.
