The University of Surrey is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as Professor in Business Analytics. Sitting within Surrey Business School (SBS), in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the appointment is part of an ambitious programme of investment in research and teaching excellence in the analytics field that capitalises on Surrey's research strengths in business and management studies as well as in computer science, engineering, data science, and digital health.

Ranked 8th in the UK for business and economics, SBS is the University's largest School with over 100 academic staff members from around the globe and a highly cohesive and collegial atmosphere. The School is dedicated to inspiring positive change in business and society, individuals and organisations, locally and globally by blending the rigour of high-quality impactful research with excellent teaching and the strengths of a technology- led university. Research within the School and across the University is highly interdisciplinary.

As an advocate for the ability of analytics to transform businesses, the Professor in Business Analytics will lead a substantial programme of research, attracting significant research funds and providing academic leadership across the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolio. Developing partnerships with local and international businesses, and continuing to expand research collaborations across the University, will be an important part of the role.

Outstanding academic leadership credentials, a track record of world-leading research outputs, and success in securing substantial external research funding are key requirements, alongside a commitment to excellence in the student experience, the ability to collaborate with academic and non-academic partners, and experience of how technology can contribute to decision making and insights in a business environment.

Applicants from all areas of business analytics are welcomed, particularly those who have led research in AI, big data, machine learning, and visualisations.

The appointment is open to internationally recognised practitioners/professionals whose work has made a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and its application to business analytics, as well as to senior teaching-focussed academics. Appointments in these cases would be to the title of Professor in Practice or Professorial Teaching Fellow
