Job Description:

The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 12-month, tenured professor to serve as senior associate dean, Academic and Faculty Affairs, with an anticipated start date of August 2022.

The successful candidate will assume a leadership role within a college of nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and social work. We also offer one of UCF's largest majors, health sciences, as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. The college also houses several centers and institutes, including the CHPS Innovation Center, Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Sciences, Center for Behavioral Health Research and Training, and two primary clinical enterprises, including the Communication Disorders Clinic and the Physical Therapy Clinic. We are seeking a visionary leader who will be responsible for working with our leadership, departments, schools, institutes, and faculty to foster excellence in our academic programs at all levels.

The senior associate dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs will:

• Have a strong commitment to teaching and learning;

• Provide college-wide leadership and operations management:

• Manage the efficient and productive operations of the college in accordance with our strategic plan;

• Develop and refine operating policies to achieve enrollment, academic, fiscal, space, and people goals and objectives;

• Periodically build reports for the dean based on data necessary for monitoring and evaluating the college's success, including cost, yield, revenue, margin, enrollment, semester credit hours, degrees awarded, retention (of students, staff, and faculty), publications, presentations, grants, and contracts;

• Oversee contract lifecycle management for college-, school-, department-, and program-related external agreements;

• Manage conflict resolution processes;

• Academic and faculty affairs;

• Work with and among our departments, schools, programs and partners, to assure the integrity, relevance, and value of our academic degrees and certificates, ensuring that our programs are continually assessed and developed;

• Spearhead strategic planning as it pertains to all faculty and academic activities in the college;

• Support our academic and faculty leaders to assure that our policies, procedures, and guidelines foster a positive faculty experience and enable excellence in teaching, research, and service;

• Work with department chairs and school directors to ensure the sufficient and effective use of instructional talent and provide school-level direction for recruitment and retention of faculty;

• Work with our chairs and directors to support plans for professional growth and excellence for our faculty, playing an active role in college-wide initiatives for mentoring junior faculty;

• Ensure that our faculty are consistently recognized among the top in their field of expertise;

• Develop and refine policies to achieve academic and faculty goals and objectives;

• Oversee tenure and promotion activities and annual evaluations;

• Serve as the college point of contact for mid-tenure, tenure and/or promotion, and post-tenure review processes; and

• Support and track the continual accreditation processes for all academic programs in the college.

Minimum Qualifications:

A research doctoral degree from an accredited institution relevant to one of the college's schools/department; a record of teaching, research and scholarly achievements, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at UCF; and a record of administrative leadership and mentoring faculty in a university setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience overseeing complex budgets;

• Experience with regional/institutional and professional program accreditation;

• A record of externally funded research;

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

• Experience with interprofessional and clinical education;

• A passion for and record of advancing justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives;

• A record of facilitating successful collaborations within colleges and in the university;

• Experience with supervising and evaluating faculty;

• Experience with alumni engagement; and

• Experience with curriculum revisions and launching new educational programs.
