The Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with the highest academic rank, who has a cumulative record of teaching effectiveness, of peer-reviewed research publications or peer-reviewed creative activities appropriate to the discipline, and of substantial services appropriate to the discipline. The Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties
All applicants must show potential for, or a record of, excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Other expectations include: (1) independent research leading to peer-reviewed discipline-related publications and potential for external funding commensurate with a master's level institution, (2) supervision of student research/thesis/projects, and (3) service to the Computer Science Department, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Missouri State University, the local/regional community, and the profession. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
