All About You
Under general supervision, prepares microscopic tissue slides for
diagnostic/research purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis;
handles specimen accessioning; maintains laboratory and equipment; provides
Prepares microscopic slides on human/animal tissue for
diagnostic/research purposes; includes fixation, dehydration,
infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include both paraffin
processed tissue and frozen sectioning.
Maintains laboratory, equipment, and accurate records of quality
Prepares and maintains all necessary reagents, including stains,
assurance and control according to Department and CAP standards.
Performs histochemical and immunohistochemical stains on a variety of
alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications.
Troubleshoots equipment and lab processes for improvement; documents
fresh and paraffin embedded tissues to assist in diagnosis.
Processes specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized
and reports findings according to lab policy.
Assists with teaching and implementation of new procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree preferred
HT/HTL (ASCP) Histotechnician certification preferred.
