Overview
Under the direction of the Manager for Copy Center and Postal Center, performs
a variety of functions associated with the day-to-day operations of the Print
and Mail Center and generation of production print and mail for all customers.
Responsibilities
Performs duties of mail carrier for the College as well as help out with
daily functions of the Print and Mail Center.
Pick up, sort and run a delivery route of all mail and parcels from the
Post Office.
Load and deliver all mailings from the production mail side of the Postal
Center to the Post Office and unload.
Assist with the delivery of UPS, FedEx, and USPS packages received on
campus, ensuring student workers deliver packages to the right recipients.
Delivers packages as needed.
Performs a variety of functions related to Production mail, Print
Production, and Student package management.
Essential Job Functions Production Mail
Help manage Production Mail Inventory, including reordering, stock adjustments, and stock taking.
Assist the Production Mail Manager with intake, client communications, supply reports, data prioritization, and design communications.
Run Postal Center service window and cash drawer, handling daily incoming and outgoing mail from internal and external customers. Process outgoing mail and packages. Sort and use proper account codes when metering daily mail.
Help Manage student package process, receive, track and deliver student packages.
Process production mail: set up printers, print files, breakdown trays, stock trays, print report, and tray, sleeve, and tag mailings.
Receive and log production supplies, making sure quantities and items match job order.
Assist with management of student workers, stuffers and daily workers.
Assists Manager with mail files, performing file setup, quality checks, weighting, and the like.
Serve as backup for mail and package delivery, making post office runs and delivering campus mail as needed.
Cross-trained to work in the Copy Center and assist Copy Center personnel, daily or as needed.
Essential Job Functions Mail Carrier and Receiving
Pick up incoming mail from the U.S. Post office, sort and deliver all mail to offices and residences.
Pick up outgoing mail from designated offices, separating into appropriate class (i.e. interoffice, unstamped, stamped).
Deliver outgoing mail to the Post Office at the appointed time.
Oversee UPS, Fed Ex, and USPS deliveries. Sort and organize by separate department or building. Scan bar codes into a delivery system. Ensure delivery by students or deliver personally.
Prepare outgoing packages for shipment through Fed Ex and UPS.
Operate and maintain College vehicle that is used to transport mail and other materials.
Assist with procession of daily mail, Production mail, and/or packages – affixing postage or labels.
Assist customers at the window, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Qualifications

are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required for this position.
Required Certifications
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Physical Demands
This position requires extensive walking, recurring bending, crouching,
stooping, stretching or similar activities; recurring lifting of light,
moderately heavy, and heavy items. Frequently push/pull carts and mail tubs
that weigh greater than 90lbs.
Must be able to drive and get in and out of vans/trucks, use hand carts,
unload pallets, and receive supplies.
Other Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. 2. Knowledge of mail merging. 3. Experience with database entry and 10-Key. 4. Knowledge of different logistics providers USPS, UPS, Fed Ex. 5.
Personal Characteristics
The Copy and Postal Centers interact with students, staff, faculty, and other
constituents of Hillsdale College. A neat, professional appearance is
necessary for this role. The Production Mail & Postal Center Assistant must be
diligent in their work due to the high volume nature of this position.
