Coventry University's Group Resolution, Information and Legal Services team is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive Principal Solicitor to join our busy and growing team in supporting the university's research activities. As a member of the team, the Principal Solicitor (Research) will obtain a unique insight into the diverse research activities of the Group and build on expertise in dealing with high value, complex projects. Our legal advisors provide strategic and innovative advice and implement processes and procedures to secure legal compliance.

As Principal Solicitor (Research), you will be responsible for leading the provision of research contract related legal advice across the Coventry University Group, ensuring that the Group operates within the requisite law and regulatory frameworks. In addition, this role will lead on general legal advice in relation to research activities to promote the interests of, and mitigate risks to, the university. In a busy environment, you will need to effectively manage workload and client expectations in line with organisational priorities.

As Principal Solicitor (Research), you will be expected to take a proactive lead on developing efficiencies in this area. This will include creating template documentation and guidance, developing and delivering stakeholder training, and fostering close working relationships with key client areas. Reporting to the Group Director of Resolution, Information and Legal Services), you will also line manage the Senior Solicitor (Research) and provide supervision to junior members of the team.
