The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for the position of Practicum Supervisor for Secondary Education.


The College of Education, Health & Rehabilitation is seeking a non-tenure track, full-time faculty Field Supervisor who enjoys working collaboratively with university students, faculty and public school teachers and administrators. The Field Supervisor will place students who are Secondary Education majors in public school settings with mentor teachers, organize field placements and work as an active member of the supervision team. This work involves traveling to school sites doing observations, formative and summative assessments, pre- and post-conferencing, and acting as a liaison with mentor teachers and building principals. The supervisor conducts weekly seminars with students that deal with the classroom experience, the teaching profession, school environments, state and national standards, and portfolio preparation. Other faculty responsibilities include attending meetings with the Secondary Education faculty and the Field Services team. The contract period is for the Spring 2022 Semester: January 1 - May 31, 2022.

This position reports to the chair of the division.



  • Master's Degree in education or related field
  • Minimum of five years of public school teaching experience that includes leadership or supervisory experience in Secondary/Middle Education
  • Preferred:

  • Experience as a mentor teacher or working with innovative models of pre- service supervision and school-university partnerships
