Salary will be commensurate with experience. The scholar will be responsible for investigating the efficacy of radiation- and/or chemotherapy-induced tumor cell kill and normal tissue sparing in the CNS and other peripheral organ sites. Our laboratory employs cutting edge cancer therapy paradigms with a focus on ultra-high dose rate “FLASH” radiotherapy, gene silencing, transgenic, stem cell-based and pharmacological approaches to study neurobiological mechanisms and regenerative strategies to ameliorate a wide range of normal tissue toxicities, neuroinflammation and cognitive impairments.

Requirements: The successful candidate will possess an excellent track record and a high level of motivation to conduct independent experiments and work well with a team. This position will play an integral role in the execution of the overall aims of several funded NIH grants focused on the translational potential of FLASH radiotherapy, stem cell and extracellular vesicles based strategies to enhance the therapeutic index of cancer treatments in the CNS, lung and head and neck. The candidate will also be expected to be familiar with statistics and the analysis and preparation of data sets for presentations in scientific meetings and peer-reviewed publications.
