In the framework of the Hyquality French BPI project between IES and the two
companies mirSense and EASIIC, we are looking for a postdoctoral/researcher.
The research will be held at IES, in the Nanomir team in partnership with the
two industrial partners. The candidate will be involved in the development of
interband and quantum cascade lasers (ICL and QCL) emitting between 4 and 9
µm. He/She will be able to perform the modelling of the laser band structure
and determine the associated electro-optical properties (gain, threshold
voltage and current,…). The main part of the work will be carried out in the
cleanroom to develop the process of these lasers which will be realized on
different substrates (GaSb, InAs, GaAs and Si). He/She will also participate
in the studies of the devices to determine the electro-optical performances.
The aim of this project is the conception, fabrication and study of Sb-based
interband cascade and quantum cascade lasers grown onto different substrates
(GaSb, InAs, GaAs and Si) for the realization of low cost optical sensors.
The Institut d'Électronique et des Systèmes is a joint research center between
the CNRS and the University of Montpellier (IES, UMR n°5214 CNRS-UM). This
center regroups nine research teams covering several research areas from
materials, photonics and waves to sensors and instrumentation. The Nanomir
group is specialized in semiconductor Sb-based optoelectronic devices (laser,
detector and sensor) working in the mid-infrared wavelength range.
By the starting date, the applicant should have a PhD degree in Engineering
Physics, with a solid background in semiconductor physics and process. A
strong experience in the following area is required: Process technology in
cleanroom, modelling of semiconductor laser and electro-optical
