Postdoctoral researcher NATURESCAPES (0.8-1.0 FTE)

Job description The Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team exploring the potential for nature-based solutions (NBS) to contribute to transformative change for climate, nature and society across urban-regions in Europe, the USA and Latin America and the Caribbean. The successful candidate will join the NATURESCAPES project, funded by Horizon Europe and led by Professor Harriet Bulkeley at Utrecht University, and work with colleagues in the Copernicus Institute and Utrecht School of Economics alongside our partners in universities, NGOs and consultancies as well as with local stakeholders and communities.

Qualifications As a candidate you should have an interest in and understanding of environmental governance, especially as it relates to climate change and/or biodiversity, and how this operates across and between scales (e.g. local, regional, global). You should have a familiarity with approaches that centre concepts of power, agency, systems and structures in theorising the nature and dynamics of environmental governance. In addition, a familiarity with nature- based solutions, their benefits and drawbacks, at a range of scales. As this position will require close collaboration with a range of partner organisations, you should be familiar with how to conduct research that can inform a range of outputs for academic and non-academic audiences. You should also have experience in techniques of research co-production and transdisciplinary research.
