Postdoctoral Researcher - Land Use Economics (1 year initially, extendable
to 3 years)
The Chair of Land Use Economics, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Hohenheim
University, is at the forefront of developing agent-based models for
integrated assessment and policy analysis. Its software package MPMAS has a
track record of 20 years, with publications in Environmental Modeling &
Software, Water Resources Research, Journal of Agricultural Economics, and
American Journal of Agricultural Economics (https: // mp-mas.uni-
hohenheim.de). Current work focuses on new ways of assessing options for
water management, sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, and land
use policy using high- performance computing and massive data.
To enlarge the interdisciplinary team at Hohenheim University, we invite
applications for a full-time postdoctoral position to undertake research
strategies for climate-smart land use and digital agriculture. We search for
candidates who would be thrilled to add their knowledge and system view to our
integrated modeling efforts. Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree
economics, agricultural or land-use science together with proven ability to
publish in international journals. Solid background in statistics is
knowledge of computational modeling, operations research or mathematical
programming is essential. Experience in computer programming is an asset but
not a requirement.
The successful candidate will be based in Stuttgart, Germany, and become
member of an international research team (working language English). The
position involves 4 hours teaching and supervision at BSc/MSc level. The
according to TV-L13 and ranges between €63,000 to €71,000 including social
benefits, depending on family status and previous job experience. Appointments
will be for 12 months initially with a possible extension to 3 years.
