Postdoctoral Researcher in Parkinson's Digital Health

Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU

We are looking for a postdoctoral candidate with significant prior experience in MLA approaches applied at DPhil level, who can undertake focused and integrated research in developing digital biomarkers predicting the risk of developing future PD in this important prodromal group.

The successful applicant will lead on Deep Learning and Machine Learning Algorithm (MLA) approaches to diagnose, stratify and measure progression in Parkinson's and prodromal Parkinson's patients from the OPDC Discovery cohort. The prodromal cohort comprises 300 polysomnographically-diagnosed patients with REM sleep behavior disorder, who have a 6% per year chance of future conversion to Parkinson's or related disorders. This will involve working with and communicating with staff from the OPDC cohort team, other departments and hospitals (including engineers at IBME (Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Oxford University), clinicians across Oxford, Sheffield, Liverpool and Cambridge, and <5 US NAPS study sites.

It is essential that the post-holder holds a relevant PhD/DPhil in a relevant area with appropriate experience in deep learning architectures, data fusion and end to end machine learning. It is desirable that the post-holder has experience working with data from Parkinson's, RBD, or neurodegenerative dementia patients.

This post is full time and fixed term until 30th November 2028

Only applications received before 12:00 midday on 1st December 2023 will be considered.

Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
