Offer Description

COMPETITION OPENING DATE NOVEMBER 9, 2023

The researcher will participate in the NCN-funded research project entitled “Smart passive materials capable of heating or cooling to temperatures different than ambient without additional power supply.” He will be responsible for the development of good quality polysiloxanes and silsesquioxanes (optionally resin) polymer films for further optical, thermal and mechanical measurements. He will take part in the development of polymer compounds and polymer-based 3D nano and microstructures with desired radiative (optical), mechanical, and thermal properties. The chosen candidate will be responsible for carrying out their own work as well as interact with other group members, especially PhD students to offer both scientific and technical support/insight. He will also be responsible for writing internal reports, preparing publication manuscripts, and presenting work at conferences.

The employment will take place in accordance with the NCN regulations, in particular the employed person must meet the following conditions jointly:

  • has obtained a doctoral degree no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project
  • their PhD degree has been awarded by another institution than the one planned to employ them at this post or they have completed a continuous and evidenced post-doctoral fellowship of at least 10 months in another institution than the host institution for the project and in another country than the one in which they have been conferred a PhD degree
  • at the time of receiving remuneration, they will not be receiving any other remuneration paid from the funds granted to research projects under NCN calls under the heading of direct costs;
  • in the period of receiving the remuneration they will be receiving no remuneration from another employer pursuant to an employment contract, including an employer with registered office outside of Poland;
  • will be employed for at least 6 months.
  • The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2023, item 742 with subsequent amendments)

    Benefits

    Benefits are in accordance with Polish employment laws for academic teachers. Full-time temporary employment at the Facult of Physics, University of Warsaw, Pasteura 5, 02-093 Warsaw, Poland for up to 48 months with an initial 18 months period followed by extens.

    Beginning of employmentafter 01.01.2024, negotiable. Remuneration is based on NCN regulations for post-docs (140 kPLN gross-gross per year).ion after positive evaluation.

    The post-doc candidates must have obtained their PhD degree within 7 years before joining the project. This period may be extended by a time of long-term (in excess of 90 days) documented sick leaves or rehabilitation leaves granted on account of being unfit to work. In addition, the period may be extended by the number of months of a child care leave granted pursuant to the Labour Code and in the case of women, by 18 months for every child born or adopted, whichever manner of accounting for career breaks is preferable. Moreover, the it is required that the post-doc candidate PhD degree has been awarded by another institution than the one planned to employ them at this post or they have completed a continuous and evidenced post-doctoral fellowship of at least 10 months in another institution than the host institution for the project and in another country than the one in which they have been conferred a PhD degree.

    The selected candidate is required to submit original documents before starting the employment. If the successful candidate submitted a declaration of the planned date of obtaining the PhD, a copy of the PhD diploma or certification of being awarded a PhD degree must be submitted.

    Selection process

    The decision to fill the position with the selected candidate will be taken by the Recruitment Committee established at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. The decision is expected to be made before 13.12.2023. The Recruitment Committee will contact selected candidates for an interview to be conducted online. In the case of resignation of a selected candidate, the position will be offered subsequent candidates from the selection ranking list.
