About the Role
A Post-Doctoral Researcher position is available from June 2022 in the
field of biomaterials research and drug delivery. A motivated and industry-
minded candidate is sought for an Enterprise Ireland funded project developing
a novel, implantable ophthalmic device. The researcher will work in a
multi-disciplinary team including commercial, research and clinical
stakeholders to progress a technology towards commercialisation.
Applicants will ideally have a background in bioengineering or biomedical
science with a PhD and 3 years of postdoctoral research/ industry experience.
Preference will be given to candidates who have hands-on experience in 3D
printing, drug formulation, hydrogel characterisation and/or design of
experiment. Industry experience and an understanding of the steps involved
in regulatory approval of medical devices is seen has highly beneficial.
Applicants should be highly organised with an ability to meet strict
deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
Salary will be dependent on level of experience and based on the IUA
Researcher's Salary Scales.
Specifically, the duties of the post are:
Lead the 3D printing of novel thermoplastic and biomaterial drug-loaded
Refine QC protocols to assess blend uniformity, stability, drug release
and mechanical properties of the above
Pre-clinical validation of concepts
Engage with external stakeholders during scale-up and GMP manufacture
Accurate batch reports, SOP drafting and document control
