Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cellular Neuroscience
“CONNECT: linking neuronal networks using human stem-cell derived organoids and microfluidic systems”
Full-time, Fixed term for 12 months
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cellular Neuroscience to work on a new project to develop 3D in vitro model systems of brain organoids to model connectivity in the nervous system in Parkinson's disease.
Duties will include maintenance and differentiation of iPSC-derived neurons and cell lines; generating and maintaining organoid cultures; conducing electrophysiological studies using multi-electrode array (MEA) systems; undertaking laboratory experiments; interpretation of data; imaging analysis; preparation of data for publication; contribute to wider project planning and determine the most appropriate methodologies to test hypotheses. You will have excellent practical experience of neuronal cell cultures and cellular neuroscience, and a good knowledge of cellular models of neurodegenerative disease and 3D cultures. The ability to innovate, trouble-shoot technical problems, be meticulous in practical work and in record keeping is essential. Applicants must hold, or be near completion of, a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area of research and have experience in cellular neuroscience, and molecular cell biology relevant to analysis of neuronal phenotypes.
This fixed-term post is available for 12 months to start as soon as possible. The post will be based in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration, Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT.
Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Mootaz Salman ([email protected]) or Professor Richard Wade-Martins ([email protected]).
Closing date for applications is midday on the 11th of December 2023
Interviews are likely to be held on the 18th of December 2023.
