Position Information

Essential Job Duties

The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will develop and evaluate Y-linked genetic systems for genetic control of spotted wing Drosophila and New World screwworm. This will involve targeting Cas9 plus sgRNA gene constructs to unique sites on the Y chromosome. This will involve making gene constructs and transgenic fly strains carrying the genetic systems. The Postdoc will meet frequently with the supervisor to discuss best practices in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and mentoring.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Department Required Skills

Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related fields.

Ph.D. with less than five years postdoctoral experience essential.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Experience in genetics and molecular biology is desired. Previous experience in Drosophila genetics is preferred.

Ph.D. awarded within 5 years or less.
