  • A call is open for the allocation of one postdoctoral research fellowship (BIPD) , within the research project GreenStamp (CENTRO-01-0247-FEDER-047256), co-financed through the Sistema de Apoio à Investigação Científica e Tecnológica – Programas Integrados de IC&DT, by the Portugal 2020 Program (PT 2020), in the framework of the Regional Operational Program of the Center (CENTRO 2020) and the European Union through the Fundo Europeu de Desenvolvimento Regional (FEDER), , taking place at the Universidade da Beira Interior (www. ubi.pt), under the following conditions:

    Research Field: Informatics

    Objetives:

    Analysis, conceptualization, implementation and evaluation of machine learning approaches for the recognition of mobile apps' energy consumption patterns, and generation of recommendations to stakeholders.

    Work plan:

    The work in this grant consists, on a first stage, on the requirement analysis of: 1) machine learning mechanisms for categorizing energy consumption of mobile apps, and 2) recommendation systems for stakeholders. At a second stage, the work will focus the research, conceptualization, implementation and evaluation of machine learning approaches for the recognition of mobile apps' energy consumption patterns, its cataloging and the production of recommendations to stakeholders. The grantee will also participate in the remaining UBI tasks in the GreenStamp project (participate in meetings, write scientific papers, write reports, etc.).

    Work location:

    The work will be developed at the Universidade da Beira Interior, Rua Marquês d'Ávila e Bolama, Covilhã, Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. Luís Alexandre (luis.alexandre@ubi.pt).

    Fellowship duration and conditions:

    The fellowship is opened for 6 months, starting on September 2021. The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI. The fellowship may be eventually renewable up to 21.48 months (as approved in the decision), not exceeding the project completion date.

    Benefits

    Benefits:

    A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1646,00 € according to the updated values that can be consulted at https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.

    Depending on the candidate's merit, the institution can update this value up to 2100,00 € according with article 21 of the RBIUBI and number 4 of article 13 of Research Fellowship Holder Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August, in its current wording (amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August).

    The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

    The monthly amount shall be rendered payable via bank transfer to an account held by the grantee.

    Eligibility criteria

    Requirements for admission and hiring:

    Hold a PhD degree in Informatics or related area.

    If the required academic degree has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, the requirements of Decree-Law 66/2018, of 16th August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019, of 25th January, shall be obeyed.     Selection process

    The selection methods to be used will be the following:

    Curricular Evaluation (CE) (grade from 0 to 100):

  • Scientific Area of the PhD (20%).

  • Publications relevant to the GreenStamp project, namely those in quality international journals and conferences (50%).

  • Experience with machine learning (20%).
  • Possible reference letters (10%).
  • Interview (IT) (grade from 0 to 100):

  • Motivation for working in this project (40%).

  • Oral expression capabilities (30%).

  • English language familiarity (30%).
  • Final Classification (grade from 0 to 100) = CE x 0.6 + IT x 0.4.

    Publication/notification of results:

    The final results of the evaluation process will be published in a sorted list, by the final classification obtained, and posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Beira Interior. The candidate(s) will be notified of the decision by e-mail.

    Complaint and Appeal Procedures:

    After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.

    The proposal for the final ranking of the candidates will constitute a reserve list for selection for a period of 6 months.
