Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Political ScienceThe Department of Government at the University of Bergen invites applicants for a four-year postdoctoral research fellow position. The successful candidate will be part of a research team who will collect extensive amounts of survey data and survey experimental data in Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, and France, and will participate in the research project “Inclusive Politics” (INCLUDE). The call is open to any theme or research question in political science that the candidate wishes to pursue. It is however a requirement for the candidate to have a strong background in survey and/or experimental methodology/ analysis, and that their postdoctoral project will make use of the opportunity to collect survey and survey experimental data.
The Department of Government covers political science, studies of public policy, public administration, political behaviour, democracy and participation, and political institutions and organisation. Research at the Department is organized in research groups. Applicants are advised to consult and make themselves familiar with the general teaching and research profile of the department, the department's research infrastructure DIGSSCORE, and the data collection plans of the Inclusive Politics Project.
Qualifications:Potential candidates may be invited to the Department for an interview, and to present their research proposal.
The appointed candidate is expected to live and work in the Bergen region and contribute actively to activities at the department.
About the position of postdoctoral research fellow:The position of postdoctoral research fellow is a fixed-term appointment with the primary objective of qualifying the appointee for work in top academic positions. The fixed-term period for this position is four year(s). The equivalent of three of the four years (75%) will be dedicated to the candidate's self-defined project. One of the four years (25%) will be dedicated to project work, such as preparation of surveys, project meetings, and public dissemination of results, or teaching at the department.
Individuals may not be hired for more than one fixed-term period as a postdoctoral research fellow at the same institution.
