EPFL is one of the most dynamic university campuses in Europe and ranks among the top 20 universities worldwide. The EPFL campus offers an exceptional working environment at the heart of a community of more than 16,000 people, including over 12,000 students and 4,000 researchers from more than 120 different countries.
Within the faculty of engineering (STI), the Galatea Laboratory explores novel paradigms to tailor material properties locally using lasers. Our research involves three main clusters: understanding and exploring laser- matter interaction phenomena, investigating new manufacturing processes based on 3D direct-write laser methods, and finally, exploring novel concepts of multi-scale systems based on single monolith. The lab features state-of-the- art laser facilities and infrastructure for pioneer research.
The Galatea Lab is located in the vibrant Neuchâtel's campus of EPFL, part of Microcity, a unique ecosystem focused on micro-technologies and advanced micro-manufacturing.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in advanced optical integrationYour mission :
For a project in collaboration with Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM), we are looking for a post-doc to investigate new concepts of femtosecond laser-based methods to achieve the next level of optical integration in precision optical benches. The work will involve advanced freeform optomechanical design principles and innovative laser-based concepts to achieve ultrahigh beam positioning accuracy and long-term dimensional stability suitable for precision optical instrumentation and devices like interferometers, photonic integrated circuits, atomic clocks and other quantum optical devices.
