Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to participate in sensory control of cardiovascular and autonomic regulation. Projects are underway that include the function and electrophysiology of autonomic neurons and the role of cardiac and skeletal muscle sensory endings in the pathogenesis of heart failure and hypertension. The successful applicant will be expected to already have a relatively strong molecular background which will complement our existing strengths in animal research. The applicant will be trained to use cellular, molecular, electrophysiological (patch clamp, neural recording) and integrative approaches to address questions related this area of research. Although outstanding candidates in all areas of physiology will be considered, special consideration will be given to individuals who will complement our existing strengths in neural control of the cardiovascular/immune/renal systems and has previous experience in one or more of the research approaches described herein.
