Who we are
The Bush School of Government and Public Service, https: // bush.tamu.edu, was
founded in 1997, under President George H.W. Bush's philosophy that public
service is a noble calling. Since then, the Bush School has continued to
reflect that notion in curriculum, research, and student experience as the
Bush School prepares students to become principled leaders in their fields and
to reflect the value of public service throughout their careers. The Mosbacher
Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy was founded in October 2009
upon the request of President George H.W. Bush to honor Robert A. Mosbacher
Sr., who served as secretary of commerce from 1989 to 1992. The Mosbacher
Institute publishes public policy briefs, conducts original and sponsored
research, and supports students through graduate education, programming, and
internships. The Institute houses the new Global Value Chains Program that
combines policy, economics, logistics and, supply chain management approaches
to emerging issues of today's global value chains.

pioneering research projects in the areas of: Policy Analysis, Public Policy,
International Economics and Labor Economics! Specifically this Postdoctoral
Research Associate will focus on generating academic publications related to
various substantive policy areas. This position will directly support ongoing
research projects as assigned by the Institute Director. These projects are
expected to be related to: US trade policy, global value chains, border
issues, and international institutions. Our selected candidate will subscribe

appropriated sources. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon
availability of funds.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of statistical research methods and
analysis of data using a variety of multivariate and multilevel
Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based, multidisciplinary
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
This is a full-time staff position at the Mosbacher Institute's office
located at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M
University in College Station, Texas.
A typical workday schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the office space
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD in a social science discipline or alternative degree fields that link
to Policy Analysis, Public Policy, International Economics, and Labor
Economics with demonstrated ability to link to policy issues and
application of appropriate research methods.
Experience with analyzing data, especially dealing with trade, global
supply chains, or labor markets.
Research Publications: Participate in preparation of scholarly
publications, presentations, and research reports based on appropriate
application of theories and analysis of the research data.
Research Field Support: Contribute to the design of the research. As
needed, assist in data collection, coding of data, and maintenance of
research records and databases.
Training Graduate Student Workers: Collaborate with and oversee Bush
School students on research projects, clearly explain research needs, and
train in necessary data collection, coding of data, and data maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
