The College of Health and Life Sciences is looking to appoint a Research Fellow on a fixed term project for 17 months entitled Scaff-Net funded by an EPSRC - New Horizons award. The project will develop methods and approaches using 2-Photon polymerisation to print scaffolds to enable growth of 3D neuronal networks.

The fellow is expected to generate breakthrough ideas in the assigned area of research, as well as to carry out research in line with the project plan.

The research will be conducted in the College of Health and Life Sciences. The PDRA will work in the groups of Prof. Rhein Parri, Prof. Edik Rafailov (AIPT) and Dr. Eric Hill. The team comprises long standing interest and expertise in neuronal and glial activity monitoring using electrophysiological and fluorescence imaging approaches, laser development and human neural stem cell differentiation. The applicants should have a first degree (1st or upper second class) in a Biological science or Chemistry related subject or equivalent and a PhD in bioprinting, bioengineering, regenerative medicine, or relevant area. Salary from £35,333 dependent on experience.

Applicants should additionally have experience in immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging.

The position will be based in the College of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University Birmingham and will report to Prof. Rhein Parri.
