Department of Mechanical, Biomedical and Design Engineering at Aston University is seeking a motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join a project with Hubl Logistics UK. This initiative aims to redesign CoolRun Pods for the African market, focusing on transporting fruits, vegetables, and frozen meat/fish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Development: Develop criteria for phase change materials (PCMs) tailored for African climates. Conduct literature reviews and experimental studies to identify effective PCMs.
  • Design and Simulation: Create 3D CAD models of CoolRun Pods, focusing on PCM encapsulation. Perform CFD simulations to optimize thermal management.
  • Experimental Analysis: Design and conduct experiments to analyse PCM charging and discharging. Evaluate thermal performance under various conditions.
  • Digital Twin Development: Develop a CFD-coupled digital twin to predict cooling pod performance. Validate and refine the model with experimental data.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Work with Hubl Logistics' teams. Prepare reports and scientific publications. Present findings at conferences and meetings.
