Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematical Physics

Mathematical Institute, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 6GG

We invite applications for two Postdoctoral Research Associates to join the Mathematical Physics research group based at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford. These posts are funded by the Royal Society through the project “Quantum perturbation theory at large orders” of Dr Erik Panzer (grant RFERE201473). The start dates of these two posts are flexible. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are able to start between 01 February 2024 and 01 October 2024.

The post holder's research should contribute towards the project goals (see project website), e.g. in the development of mathematical and computational aspects of multi-loop Feynman integrals, Kontsevich deformation quantization, related special functions, or asymptotics and resummation of perturbation series. The successful candidate will manage and conduct their own academic research and administrative activities, write up their results for publication, and participate fully in the activities of the research community at Oxford.

Applicants will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to contribute to the project. They will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.

We proudly hold a Race Equality Charter Bronze Award and a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award, which guide our progress toward advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our commitment to openness, inclusivity, and transparency, we would particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in positions of this type at Oxford.
