About the role

Reporting to Professor Syma Khalid. The post holder is a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research as part of a large Wellcome Trust-funded, collaborative, multidisciplinary project. The post holder provides guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, PhD and project students.

Whilst the role is a grade 7 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at grade 6 (£32,332– £38,205 per annum) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 36 months in the first instance.

The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

You will hold, or be close to completion, of a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience. You should have demonstrable experience of having written own analysis code, as well as experience of MD simulations at expert level and understanding of the underlying theories involved. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publications, present research proposals/results are essential. Furthermore, experience of actively collaborating in the development of research articles, and the ability to manage own academic research and activities is imperative.
