Postdoctoral Research Associate in circadian rhythms and stroke

Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, New Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QU Grade 7: £33,309 - 40,927 per annum

Reporting to Professor Russell Foster you will become an integral part of an interdisciplinary team working on elucidating the interplay between cerebral ischaemic injury and circadian pathways to uncover potential novel neuroprotective strategies. You will utilise in vivo surgical rodent models of stroke in combination with circadian clock knock out and reporter genetic models to develop an in-depth understanding of consequences of circadian physiological rhythms on stroke patho-biology. This work is part of a larger consortium of researchers from leading research institutes around the world (Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Munich, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and University of Tasmania) focused on the study of circadian influence on stroke outcome from fundamental biology to clinical and population studies. You will be a key member of the Oxford arm of this multidisciplinary team, co-ordinating in vivo studies between the labs of Professors Russell Foster, Alastair Buchan and David Ray whilst also fostering and maintaining international collaborations with the larger Leducq programme members.
