Postdoctoral Research Associate in Apicomplexan Cytoskeleton Biology

Department of Biochemistry, DCHB, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QU

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr Clinton Lau, studying how the malaria parasite cytoskeleton organises the cell. You will identify and characterise proteins that bind to the cytoskeleton of Plasmodium falciparum. Our research projects require a creative, multidisciplinary approach, and as such provide opportunities across structural biology, biochemistry and cell biology including single molecule fluorescent microscopy and cryo electron microscopy. You will join an enthusiastic lab in the Department of Biochemistry. We have access to excellent facilities such as the Central Oxford Structural and Molecular Imaging centre (COSMIC), as well as the Micron imaging facility. In addition, we have a strong focus on career development, with training and mentoring available.

You should hold a PhD/DPhil together with relevant experience in a field such as structural biology, parasitology, cell biology or molecular biochemistry/biophysics. You should have the ability to manage your own research. You should be able to work efficiently as part of a team, contributing ideas for research, protocols, and techniques and training others. Excellent communications are essential, including the ability to write for publication, present research, represent the research group at meetings and keep accurate and detailed records.

The Lau Lab and the University of Oxford is committed to equality and valuing diversity. All applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria. Informal enquiries welcome. Please visit https: // for contact information.
