The Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Hagan Bayley on a research project funded by the Oxford Martin School for a period of 24 months. The project involves original research on improving and applying 3D bio-printing technology for the construction of living tissues. You should have a PhD in an area ranging from biology to engineering, or have submitted your dissertation prior to taking up your appointment. Experience in tissue engineering and skills in hardware and software for lab instrumentation, ideally 3D printing and microfluidics, would be advantageous. Hands-on experience with optical microscopy and surface chemistry would be additional assets.

Duties include carrying out original research, managing own academic research and administrative activities; small scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Adapting existing and developing new scientific techniques and experimental protocols and collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles. The successful appointee will be expected to present papers, attend conferences and supervise research students.
