The new Aston Digital Futures Institute has Postdoctoral Research Associate vacancies.

The Metaverse provides healthcare professionals with powerful tools for analysing and visualising complex medical data more intuitively and interactively. This can support better-informed decision-making, facilitate collaboration, and uncover insights that may lead to improved patient outcomes and advancements in medical research. While the exact nature and implementation of the Metaverse are still in progress, several characteristics could potentially benefit the healthcare ecosystem in a variety of ways, including – among many others - remote patient monitoring, virtual consultations, medical training and education, telemedicine and telepresence, monitored environments, data analytics and visualisation etc.

This research fellowship will thoroughly examine the development of the Metaverse and make significant contributions to the development of novel tools and techniques for the multi-sensory multimodal analytics and visualisation of health data within the Metaverse to improve healthcare provisioning effectiveness, thereby leading to improved patient outcomes and more efficient use of available resources.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and enhance the new Institute research activities in the field of multi-sensory data analytics and XR (Extended Reality) with a particular focus on healthcare provision within the metaverse. Expertise and previous exposure to medical image processing, machine learning, data analytics and digital media design and technology are highly desirable. The candidate is expected to be an active researcher with a track record of well-cited publications in the field of sensors and data analytics, medical imaging, XR and/or relevant fields.
