Postdoctoral Researcher position available in Hubie Chen's EPSRC-funded research project on the complexity of database query evaluation.

Your research tasks on the project will include identifying and understanding classes of database queries on which query evaluation is computationally tractable. You will have the opportunity to work with and interface many research concepts, including decomposition methods for queries, enumeration of query answers, hypergraph combinatorics, and dichotomy phenomena in parameterized complexity.

Travel funding will be available to you, and you will have the opportunity to interact with our project partners in China, France, and Germany.

We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher for a new EPSRC-funded research project on the complexity of database query evaluation, under the direction of faculty member Hubie Chen within the Department of Computer Science.

The successful applicant should have a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline. Research interest and experience in the following areas will be valued: logic in computer science, database theory, finite model theory, structural decomposition methods, and parameterized complexity theory.

Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £38,594 rising to £44,113 per annum

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
