Postdoctoral Research Assistant in CRISPR screening

Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, South Parks Road, Oxford Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our Genome Engineering Oxford centre, based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford.

The post holder will lead your own projects and you will be actively involved in establishing, developing and optimising gene editing techniques, as well as setting up, carrying out and analysing genome-wide (multiplex) CRISPR library screens. You will also be involved in other projects including the design, assembly and testing of CRISPR nucleases in cell culture systems, and when necessary provide guidance to junior members of the lab. Additionally, you will explore exciting and powerful new techniques such as PACE and/or equivalent directed evolution strategies to engineer and produce recombinant proteins with improved/desired characteristics, including DNA-modifying enzymes.

The post-holder should have a PhD/Dphil in (molecular/synthetic) biology, bioinformatics, (bio)chemistry, genetics or a related subject. You should have experience with culturing and manipulation of cell lines and have in- depth knowledge of molecular biology techniques, especially cloning and PCR, as well as general biochemical and cell biology techniques. You should be able to work independently using your own initiative, and also as part of a team, to manage your workload effectively and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff are essential.

Applications from candidates who hold BSc/MSc degree will be considered, to be appointed as Research Assistant at Grade 6 with a salary range of £29,176 - £34,804 p.a. with amended duties and responsibilities.
