Postdoctoral Research Assistant for the LHCb experiment

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Particle Physics.

The post is available for a fixed term duration of 2 years.

The place of work will be at the Denys Wilkinson Building, Keble Rd, Oxford, OX1 3RH.

This project will involve data analysis of the LHCb Run3 dataset and software development for calibrations.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in data analysis from the LHCb experiment in order to make measurements of CP violation and other heavy flavour related observables, and subsequently publish their research. They will also develop software for particle identification. These tasks will involve adapting existing and developing new scientific techniques; contributing ideas for new research projects; collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally presenting papers and posters; representing the research group at external meetings & seminars and carrying out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in physics or a related field and ideally a strong background in heavy flavour physics.

Previous experience of the LHCb experiment will be an advantage.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, plan and execute research activities, and work in a team.
