Postdoctoral Position

80-100 %

The University of Zurich (UZH) plays a prominent role in Open and Reproducible Science, both nationally and internationally. With the Center of Reproducible Science (CRS) UZH pursues the goal to improve the overall reproducibility of empirical scientific research and to promote original research in reproducibility studies and methodology related to reproducibility. The CRS is a joint competence center of the Faculties of Medicine, of Science, of Business, Economics and Informatics, of Arts and Social Sciences and, the Vetsuisse Faculty. It is housed at the Faculty of Medicine in the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute.

Your responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in research projects related to reproducibility, Open Science and meta-science. He or she will be expected to initiate and carry out new such research projects including funding applications. Together with the CRS team he or she will also be involved in teaching reproducible research practices to an interdisciplinary audience of early career researchers through courses, workshops, summer schools etc.

Your profile

Candidates need to have an excellent teaching record and a strong research focus on techniques relevant for reproducible and open science (experimental design, pre-registration, version control and dynamic report generation, open access publication, open research data). Active research on reproducibility is a plus. More specifically:

  • A recent PhD degree in a quantitative subject with a clear methodological focus
  • Excellent command of quantitative methods
  • Ability to critically assess research results
  • Strong interest and expertise in reproducibility in the stages of empirical research
  • Proven teaching record at university level
  • Excellent knowledge of the R or Python environment for scientific computing and relevant extensions (R Markdown, knitr, shiny, Quarto, Jupyter Notebooks etc)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Excellent knowledge of English and communication skills
